Prayer for Europe and for All Humanity

PRAYER FOR EUROPE AND FOR ALL HUMANITY
Addressed to the Consecrated Triune God

† In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Lord Jesus Christ, our God,
who were begotten of the Father before all ages
(γεννηθεὶς ἐκ τοῦ Πατρός πρὸ πάντων τῶν αἰώνων – begotten of the Father before all ages),
and in the fullness of time for our sake became man,
who redeemed the world through the Cross and death,
and who, having risen from the dead, are seated at the right hand of the Father—
hear now our humble prayer,
which we offer to You as a spiritual sacrifice
(λογικὴ λατρεία – rational worship).

Look with mercy upon Your One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church
(Una, Sancta, Catholica et Apostolica Ecclesia – One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church).
Establish her in the truth, heal the divisions,
expose the emptiness of error and enlighten all
by the power of Your Holy Spirit
(ἐν δυνάμει τοῦ Ἁγίου Πνεύματος).
Make the people of the Cross one heart and one mind
(μία καρδία καὶ μία ψυχή – one heart and one soul).

Bow.

Save, O Lord, and have mercy upon Europe,
upon this continent where more than four hundred million souls dwell.
Awaken them to deep metanoia
(μετάνοια – repentance, a change of mind and life),
that from unbelief faith may be born,
from desolation love,
and from a mindset of death a wisdom that serves life.

Grant, O Lord, a great harvest
(messis magna – a great harvest),
and in Your mercy set free one billion souls,
bringing them from darkness into Your marvelous light
(ἐκ σκότους εἰς τὸ θαυμαστὸν φῶς – from darkness into marvelous light).

Bow.

Save, O Lord, and have mercy upon the whole world.
Silence wars, calm the nations,
protect creation from devastation
and lead humanity to reverence for life.
Grant that the whole world may enter
into a new humanity (novus homo – the new man),
growing in virtue, humility, and love of truth.

Bow.

Remember, O Lord, Your servants:
our Metropolitan Stephanos,
Bishop Damaskinos,
and all bishops, priests, and deacons
whom You have appointed to shepherd Your flock.
Through their prayers
have mercy also on me, a sinner.

Bow.

Bless, O Lord, Europe with the apostolic blessing:
Ἡ χάρις τοῦ Κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ –
the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
καὶ ἡ ἀγάπη τοῦ Θεοῦ Πατρός –
and the love of God the Father,
καὶ ἡ κοινωνία τοῦ Ἁγίου Πνεύματος –
and the communion of the Holy Spirit
be with all the peoples of Europe.

And pour out Your high-priestly blessing upon the whole world,
that humanity may be sanctified in the truth,
as You Yourself prayed, O Lord:
“That they all may be one.”

For to You belongs all glory,
together with Your eternal Father
and the all-holy, good, and life-giving Spirit,
now and ever and unto ages of ages.

Amen.
